Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 31, 2026

Runtake is a running training log. We take your privacy seriously — especially because the data you share with us includes health and fitness information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

What we collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use Runtake:

  • Account dataYour email address and date of birth, collected at sign-up. Date of birth is used to calculate your maximum heart rate for training zones.
  • Training dataPlanned mileage, activity types, and notes you enter manually into the app.
  • Health and fitness dataCompleted run data (distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence, heart rate zones) synced from Apple Health (HealthKit) on your device, with your explicit permission.
  • Location dataYour location, collected in two ways: (1) run location is recorded at the time of a completed workout and stored server-side associated with your account; (2) a default run location may be saved to your account when you explicitly confirm it during manual location setup. Location is also used to display a local weather forecast and is not stored separately for that purpose.
  • Training survey responsesOptional post-run survey data including perceived effort (RPE), energy level, and pain notes. Pain descriptions are treated as health data and handled accordingly.
  • AI-generated insightsWhen you request a post-run insight, fitness data from that run is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the insight. See the AI Insights section below.

How we use your data

We use your data only to provide and improve Runtake:

  • To display your training plan and completed run history
  • To calculate stats such as weekly and monthly mileage totals
  • To calculate heart rate training zones using your age and recorded heart rate data
  • To send transactional emails (account creation, password reset) via Resend
  • To show a local weather forecast based on your current location
  • To generate AI-powered post-run insights when you request them
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your health or fitness data with any third party except as described in the AI Insights section below.

HealthKit data

Runtake requests access to Apple Health (HealthKit) to sync your completed workouts. HealthKit data is:

  • Read from your device only with your explicit permission
  • Stored in your Runtake account database to display your training history
  • Never shared with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers, except as described in the AI Insights section below when you explicitly request an insight

You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Runtake.

AI Insights

Runtake offers an optional AI-powered insight feature. When you tap “Get Insight” on a completed run, the following data is sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to generate your insight:

  • Fitness data from that run: distance, pace, heart rate, heart rate zones, and cadence
  • Up to 12 weeks of recent training history (distance, pace, heart rate, and run type per run), used as context for the analysis
  • If you completed a post-run survey for that run: your survey responses including RPE, energy level, and any pain notes

This data transfer only occurs when you explicitly request an insight — it is never sent automatically.

Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its AI models. Your run data is processed solely to generate your insight and is not retained by Anthropic for any other purpose.

For more information, see Anthropic's privacy policy.

Location data

Run location is recorded at the time of a completed workout and stored on our servers, associated with your account. A default run location may also be saved to your account when you explicitly confirm it during manual location setup.

Location is additionally used to fetch a local weather forecast when you view the app. For weather purposes only, your location is sent to a weather service at the time of the request and is not stored separately.

You can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Runtake.

Third-party services

Runtake uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • SupabaseDatabase and authentication. Your account data and training data are stored on Supabase servers.
  • ResendTransactional email. Only your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose.
  • AnthropicAI insight generation. Fitness data from a specific run, up to 12 weeks of training history, and optional survey responses are sent to Anthropic only when you explicitly request an insight. See AI Insights above.
  • Visual CrossingWeather data. Your current location is sent to Visual Crossing to fetch a local weather forecast. Location is not stored by Visual Crossing beyond the scope of the request.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted from our systems. To request account deletion, contact privacy@runtake.app.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. This includes rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and, for users in the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@runtake.app.

Children's privacy

Runtake is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
